The hotel is
located in the quarter of Saint-Gervais, between the Coulouvrenière
and Iles bridges.
In the middle ages, the quarter
of La Cité and the quarter of Saint-Gervais formed the old city
of Geneva, which was surround by a wall of both sides of the river. The
wall was destroyed in 1850, and the Coulouvrenière bridge was erected
in 1857 to connect both sides of the river.
The building that currently
houses the Hotel des Tourelles was built in 1885 and its turrets are the
reason for the hotel’s name.
In the early 1900s the Tourelles
was a pension. It became a hotel in the 1960s and, under the leadership
of new owners André and Christine Meier, underwent major renovations
since the 1980s. While having retained their original character, the hotel's
22 rooms are now equipped with private showers and toilets.
Every room has cable TV and
radio, access to free WiFi, and telephone with a direct line.
For your comfort, you will
also have a mini-refrigerator, a tea set, a room safe, and a hair dryer.
